I ran across this while perusing the web. To bad there’s no link to the store.

In January of 2009 Polaroid stopped producing their instant film. Although film is still available on the market it is relatively expensive and I would image the price will continue to go up as it becomes more scarce. I will no longer be reloading the Polaroid with film.

The cache is still in the same place and contains a log book, trinkets and a disposable 35mm camera.

We’re into November and the cache is still in place. I have a feeling this will be the last weekend the weather will be nice enough to keep the Polaroid camera out in the elements. The disposable will be available all winter.

Convinced my 6 month pregnant wife to take a walk and do some night caching. Turned out to be a little rougher than she was ready for and the 30-40 mph wind didn’t help either. Never the less we did perservere. Snapped photo, signed log, and grabbed troops coin.

Your wife is a trooper.

Congratulations to D+J+Jeep for being the First to Find my cache, apparently the prize was a functional camera. That being said my apologies to Mountain Roamer. She took the time to go find my cache only to get a broken camera. I will have a replacement there by this afterneoon. There will also be a disposable 35mm (aka Plan B) in case this happens again.

So why the Polaroid (because its obviously a hassle)?

  1. Film is dying and we should use it while we still can.
  2. Its instant.
  3. The combination of the picture, the answer to the question, and your own handwriting says a lot. A lot more than a digital image or a 35 mm print.

I was excited to see that I got two visits the first day the cache was listed. Thank you for taking part and keep checking back, hopefully more folks will stop by.

UPDATE: 9.1.08

A new Polaroid camera is at the cache. I have also left a disposable 35mm in case it also has technical difficulties.
